Fastener process monitoring for cold heading and cold forming: tonnage and process monitors from Helm Instruments, supplied by Cinco Industries.
A cold former or thread roller makes parts in very large numbers. A fault such as a worn tool, a missing slug or a change in material shows up as a change in forming load before it shows up as scrap. A process monitor reads the force on every stroke, compares it with a known-good reference and sounds an alarm when a stroke falls outside its limits. That protects your tooling and catches problems early.
Cinco supplies Helm Instruments tonnage and process monitors for cold forming machines and thread rollers. Founded in 1962, Helm specializes in process control systems, force transducers and tonnage monitors.
PTM Series. Combines Helm force tonnage circuitry with embedded PC technology for real-time signature analysis and unlimited job recipe storage. With the Helm HR-1101 resolver it monitors through the stroke, with upper and lower control limits set around the critical parts of the forming signature.
TMG-1200. A compact cold heading monitor for every machine type, from single-blow headers to multi-station formers. It combines three detection modes, adaptive learning and trend analysis with high and low alarms, a bar graph display, integrated parts counters and an alarm for RPM drop.
Choose the PTM Series when you want full signature analysis and stored recipes for each job. Choose the TMG-1200 when you want one compact monitor that covers any machine type without extra modules or sensors. Tell us your machine type and the parts you run and we will help you match a monitor. See the Helm Instruments page for both models, or read the case study on Helm monitoring in production.
Describe your process and we will help you find the right monitor.
